Hello to everyone,

My name is Niall. My son and I are moving to Uganda in October for at least five years. We will be setting up and working on a Christian/humanitarian project in Kaliro District.

I wonder if anyone can help us with some information. We are starting to do some fundraising in the UK to get our project in Uganda off the ground and I need to know some prices in Uganda of some of the items we will need.

Can anyone tell us, at least roughly, the cost of a rotavator, the cost of a generator (sufficient to power a small house), the cost of a spade, a fork, average medical insurance, pvc guttering, a 10,000 litre water tank, average car insurance, the average cost of a double cab pick up (anyone know of a good one for sale?), the cost of a 250cc off road motorbike and, again, anyone know of a good one for sale?

If anyone can help with any of this information, I will be most grateful.

oh, my name is wilber. I come from Jinja district next to kaliro district, it is real apleasure that u guys have decided to have aproject here in Uganda.聽 Am an real not sure about the exact prices but if you get to me again probably I would have gotten them, but, agenerator could be around 250 dollars , asped aroud 10 dollars same as afork. aten littre water tank, seems small but there are good plastic tanks of about 200litres or so. am not sure of the price. apick up may聽 be roughly 6million ugshs thats aroud 3000dollars.

Thank you for your reply to my posting. It is great to know that there is a hardware shop in Kaliro where I can get the things I need. Of course, it depends how much findraising I can do in Engalnd before I arrive with my son in October.

Can you tell me if the shop in Kaliro will sell a rotavator? We need that to start to cultivate some land that we are able to use. Also, what is the cost? If I can tell people in England the price of things then we are more likely to get funding.

And finally, Mr. Paresh Patel runs the shop in Kaliro. Does that mean that he lives in Kaliro? I need some information on how to find accommodation in the town. This would be most helpful. We intend to rent, not to buy.

Thanks for the information. The water tank we want is actually 10 thousand litres, not ten litres!

The information you gave has been helpful. We are looking forward to arriving in Kaliro in October. We are working with the Church of Uganda, Busoga Diocese and we visited the office in Jinja when we were in Uganda in July.
