When I checked my EP application status at MOM's website, it shows "invalid, your application has not been approved. please contact your employer" I have yet to received any news on my IPA from my employer, does this message still mean that my application is in the midst of being approved?

Invalid means reject. So sorry.

Ozbazin is correct: Your EP was rejected.

You should, together with the employer, find out why (the employer, not you, can ask MoM). Then, you can decide whether you have grounds to address the rejection reason in an appeal.
