Taichung is a urban area like Taipei. However, life is not as busy as Taipei. Living in Taichung is safe and cheaper than in Taipei. There is no problem between treating men or women. In Taichung area, Taichung Veterans General Hospital (), China Medical University () and Taichung Hospital () are all recommended. Your company should handle the health insurance affairs for you. I am an international teacher in Taichung and I love it.聽 I am here with my husband and are in our second year.聽 We find the city easy to live in and the people very friendly.聽 There are fewer foreigners and less people speak english than in Taipei but we haven't found that to be a problem.聽 We know very little chinese and we get by.聽 It is extremely safe here, I've actually never felt safer in a city.聽 There are often teaching positions available for teaching english at the cram schools (after school programs) and possibly even local schools but I'm not sure how that process works.聽 I also know of people who have nannies and maids, though I'm not sure how they found them - word of mouth I assume.聽 If you come with your company they often facilitate those details.

As far as health care goes it is good and cheap.聽 Of course there are some cultural differences.聽 We have become aware of a hospital that caters to foreigners: International Health Services Center at Kuang Tien General Hospital
