Even though Ba Ria - Vung Tau is considered a low-risk province, the People's Committee has decided to extend the current social distancing measures until further notice -

BEFORE GOVERNMENT'S TOOL GUIDE, BRVINCE PEOPLE'S Committee REQUIREQUIREQUIRED BY MARKET 16.

The implementation of provincial People's Committee's 3146 requirements until further notice.

Went out to do essential shopping today. Seems the 2m distance guideline is out of the window.

Why do I get the feeling that Vietnam, after doing so well, is going to screw this up.

We may be in this for the long haul. There is increasing concern that herd immunity is not a thing. That means you can get it repeatedly. Each time it damages your lungs a little bit. Wear the mask, wash your hands, stay inside, embrace online work.

Even if herd immunity turns out to be feasible we are a long, long way from that.

We need a viable treatment or vaccine.

A fair number of restaurants, coffeeshops and pubs/bars in Vung Tau city are already open (Luca, Good Morning Vietnam, Steak Viet, Belly's, Offshore, David, OMG, CJs, Highlands, Bean & Jam, etc.) Apparently, places are only allowed to open after being notified and even then they have to limit the number of customers. So, the local govt is doing a good job reopening gradually in an orderly manner.

On the other hand, many places are still closed, some due to other circumstances. Don Quijote seems to be taking this opportunity to do some renovation(?), and Taj Grill says they're still waiting for local staff to return from their hometowns.

I have a feeling it will be a while before places like the casinos and dog races will be open though.

Still can't get a "legit taxi" or Grab car. I don't get it!

I just posted about the situation with grab in another thread:

I also just found out from Ciambella that the taxis are still being limited to 50% of their capacity.

So a four seater can only carry two people which means the driver and a passenger

A 7-seater is probably technically limited to three people: the driver and two passengers.

Many taxi drivers are apparently sitting it out because they can't make enough money that way (theory).

I took a really long walk today and probably saw about a dozen taxis scattered around the area between Back Beach and Front Beach.

Maybe ask your hotel or apartment manager to call a cab for you?

Boy, the restrictions are about one step below being in a full body hazmat suit to take Grab. The authorities must have a real bug up their bum about ride sharing.
聽 I wonder if the massage parlors have to jump through that many hoops.
聽 What really is puzzling is that you can book a Grab car on the Chinese border but you can't in a province with zero infections.
