Street goods - reliable places to recommend

I am an adventurous person and like to discover the country bit by bit.

What are the reliable and safe places/local restaurants to enjoy street foods across the country you have experienced and could recommend without paying the "tourist price"?

I agree with Planner about street food, I avoid it entirely.聽 We live in Santiago and there are plenty of great restaurants here, I just use Google maps and read reviews.聽

We should create a directory of good and cheap restaurants with real Dominican food that doesn't make you sick! 馃槅 Organized by city or region. I won't be there until December but I'll definitely be looking for safe places to eat that are non-touristy and budget friendly.

That's a great idea!

All great ideas need someone to actually do the work.聽 聽Start a thread and put your recommendations!

@planner

You are so right, @planner!! 馃槃 I blog as a hobby and I enjoy writing, so that idea came to me as a blog post idea, as well. I'll put that on my to-do list for when I get there in Dec: "start restaurant directory on expat.com"!!!
