I don't know why you would live on a hot/humid island when you could retire in the mountains with much better weather and lower cost of living. We lived in Honduras for two years and traveled a lot. We found that the altitudes of 3400 feet and higher were very comfortable year round. No need for a/c.聽 聽 Roatan will get very unpleasant in the hot season and you are on a tourist island where everything is more expensive.聽 聽 Thoughts?

Make sure that you can prove that you have a retirement income. Bring down a valid police record that you have not committed any crimes and you may have to visit the Honduran consulate in your country to register. I have lived in Honduras since 1980, and permanent residency has become much more expensive and complicated. When you get your official card you can get a 25% discount on almost everything, restaurants, hotels, buses, etc.

The Migration Laws of Honduras state that a Retired person may apply for Residency on a US$1,500.00 monthly pension and that allows the applicant to obtain the same benefit for his/her spouse.
In other words, You only need to prove the monthly pension of no less than US$1,500.00 per month for one.
