Bilingual school HELP!

Hi All, I am a mother of a 10 and a 16 years old children, we are moving to Ghent this summer from China and i totally don't understand why international school are so unaffordable in Belgium. My children are in secondary right now and we are looking for a bilingual school (english and dutch/french) we are english native. I don't think sending my 16 years old to local school would be wise (according to many advice i have been receiving) but putting her in international school is beyond our reach financially. has anyone would have some opinion to help this confuse mom and a panic wife?

International schools are expensive in Belgium because they are entirely self funding and overheads here are high, simple as that.

There is one international school for primary and pre-primary only (age 3 to 12) in Gent in September. It is opening on the site of an existing Flemish education school and I am guessing it will be English with some Dutch. Expect fees of at least 6k if not more. There is no secondary international school in Gent.

Your children are welcome to go into Flemish schools in Dutch, into immersion classes. Here is a link to those with specific immersion classes in Gent.

The nearest international secondaries in English are in Antwerp -2 choices 16-18, or in Brussels / Waterloo - 4 choices.

Hello,
I'm new member in this blog. Yes, there is international school in Ghent which is opened in 2012 September for 3-12 years old children and its education language is English. They follow IPC(International Primary Curriculum) for courses.Dutch French, Chinese and etc. selective. Its name is 'International School Ghent'. They are so kind, respectful. The price for school very cheap compare to Brussel ones. Also, living Ghent or near here is very relax and comfortable.
