(Dis)Organised Crime in Bulgaria....

A gang of Master Counterfeiters has just been busted in Bulgaria: apparently their fake banknotes are of "very good quality" but their education is clearly of a somewhat lesser standard*.聽 They managed to call Aleko Konstantinov (whose portrait is on 100 leva notes) Konstantin Alekov - and the portrait on their notes is of someone else entirely!馃ぃ

The band of bungling brigands is headed by a Russian. Im sure he is UKRAINIAN. There is no Russian band in Bulgaria. Only Ukrainians who speak Russian.

In your dreams! While it's true that there aren't really any more Russian gangs operating here at street level, like there were in the 1990s and early 2000s, they're still very much alive and kicking. Groups like the Solntsevskaya and Tambovskaya no longer use brass knuckles to "incentivise" prospective clients and rivals; nowadays it's all sharp business suits and corporate strategies, enabled by friends in high places. They specialise in moving "dark money" around financial centres and busting sanctions and embargoes but they're very much "here"..
