Thete are lots of recovery (袩褗褌薪邪 袩芯屑芯褖) companies but you have to be careful with them; there have been TV expos茅s about very dubious practices.

Your best bet is to join SBA (sba.bg) the Union of Bulgarian Motorists. They have varying levels of membership; most levels also include a free Annual Technical Inspection, which is compulsory for all vehicles from the 3rd year of registration. Their recovery/roadside assistancs service is very good. The higher levels include breakdown service abroad.

The saga continues. It started first time and we drove to Silistra, loaded the shopping and wouldn't start. Went through the same process as yesterday, twice, but nothing. Done Google search for a garage, fortunately one 5 minutes walk. He came back to the van and said it was starter motor. But we are 30 mins from home, so he takes us home and will phone when it's ready. Google translate was helpful as understandably he didn't speak English.

I hope you can get it fixed without any problems! Glad he drove you home.

We'll be in much the same situation when we get a vehicle here, no garage in the village any more and no taxi service.

Well to conclude, it鈥檚 going to sound like a comedy sketch.

They phoned and his dad picked us up. Arrived at garage, son had gone home with van key in pocket. Dad returns home to collect it. Go to pay and we were out of cash being stuck in village, nearest cash machine 20 mins drive. So said bank transfer. No. Said there was a cash machine over the road. It ran out of cash 馃槀 Google mapped another one and got the money out.

Needed t pop into Kaufland now we had van going, thought I would withdraw a bit of cash - both machines - no cash 馃槀

Final part of saga, hubby went to the local builders merchants. Their card machine was kaput and out of action for three weeks so he had to drive to Sitovo and find a cash machine so that he could get his materials. End of story 馃ぃ馃ぃ馃ぃ馃ぃ Moral: ensure you have one hell of a lot of cash handy at all times.
