Aspiring ex-pat VLS/TS application

Hi All, I joined this forum as a result of shengen exhaustion.

I've been living in France piecemeal since Brexit, prior to that I lived in a number of departments, most notably haute Normandie and the Auvergne. I moved back to the UK to be nearer my children at a critical time in their development, not understanding anything about Brexit or the implications. As a result I missed getting my WARP, and now can only live in France a month at a time.

I'm planning to apply for a VLS/TS before I return to France the next time, and am hoping I can pick some expert brains here to fine tune my application.

Thanks in advance for any advice et bon weekend!

Ah thanks! , yes, I have an account on gouv.fr., the main problem for me is satisfying the financial requirements, I've only got a state pension from the UK, so I need to top that up in some way with part time work, I'm a fully qualified builder and joiner with firty years plus of exp茅rience, but since brexit my UK qualifications are no longer valid. The key issue is ticking all the boxes first time

Thanks for your reply and have a great week!

Do you have investment accounts that could shore up the weak pension benefits?聽 With 50 years experience I'm guessing you're at least 65. In my experience, getting a construction job over a younger, cheaper French citizen is not going to be an easy task. Maybe do a serious assessment of transferrable skills.聽 Could you open a training school or look for a job in that line?聽 Once you figure out the market demand for your skills then you'll know if you need to submit a business plan or a job offer with your visa app.

You will need to re-qualify every year, so if your pension isn't enough my question would be (being American & knowing nothing about UK Pensions)聽 how long are you going to be able to/want to聽 continue working if you do find a gig in France?

Bonjour. If you are on Facebook, you should join the group 'Applying for a French CdS (Carte de S茅jour) and/or visa'.

Read the GUIDES there before you ask any questions.

You cannot work under the Visa's you mention, and you will sign the application to say so.

If you want to work, you will need to apply for the correct Visa, and I hazard, what you have said in comments, that you will not make sufficient funds to qualify for the kind of Visa you need.

You might find that part time work in the UK perhaps? If living in the UK is not an option, then you will have to satisfy the powers that be that you are self-funded and wont undertake any work in France. Bon Chance.
