I am thinking about possibly moving to Ireland.聽 I am currently in the UK.

I am on benefits currently and would like to find detailed information about my eligibility for benefits in Ireland.聽 Is there a good online source to refer to?

I am interested in living in Galway.聽 Some short-term accommodation that's not pricey would be my ideal.聽 Not a hostel , but a bedsit or studio flat would be my preference.

Does any one have any thoughts, or sources that they would recommend me looking at?

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

While UK citizens can claim social benefits in Ireland, I think they have to have lived, worked and paid Irish social insurance contributions there for 2 years before you can claim.

That said, I can't find a definitive reference, so my advice would be to contact the Irish Citizens Information.聽 They have a website with their contact details; this will take you straight there.

You need proof your living in the country before they would even consider your claim.
