Dependent Visa for spouse and child from India

I have applied for my Residence Permit and received the acknowledgement. I have the following clarifications.

1. I would like to know if I can ask my spouse and child to apply for Dependent Visa with the acknowledgement that I have received from Identity Malta or should I wait for my Residence Card?

FYI - I also have rented an apartment for an year and I have a rental agreement for it as well.

2. My Visa was stamped for 3 months and was only a single entry. Could you please let me know, how can I change it to Multiple entry? Is there any special procedure for it.

Hi,

You can ask your family to apply for Family Visit Visa through VFS India to Malta聽 and then apply for their residence permit in Malta through Identity Malta, provided your net salary is above 19,000/year. Else you will have to wait for 2yrs or more.

Can I also work there as a dependent or I will also need to apply for a separate work permit? Because my husband will get the "single work permit" for Malta.

Yes. You will require a Work Permit if you want to work any where in Malta or in that case anywhere in EU even if you are a dependent.

We are currently in Germany and as a dependent I have all the rights to work here part-time and full time with any employer, so its possible here to work on dependent permit. Even I am working here since last year.

So may be it's not the same in Malta right?

The same applies here as well I think. Provided the employer is able to provide you with a Work Permit. Thats how it is here in Malta.

I have noticed that many countries allow "open" work permit to the dependent family members, that allows the spouse to find a job in any company. These dependent but open work permits are obviously tied to the main applicant.

I would really appreciate if you could confirm following based on your experience:

- does the govt allow "open" work permit to the dependent family members?

- do you need an employer to sponsor/support the work permit, and once secured, you are only allowed to work for that employer and cannot switch jobs?

I am planning to move to Malta with my family, and while my existing company with a branch in Malta would support my move, the company would only support getting right visa for my family members.

I want to know if my wife (who is skilled and post-graduate) need to find a job before she applies for a dependent work permit or she can get her work permit irrespective of whether she finds a job or not.

Secondly, is she (and myself) allowed to switch a job after getting the work permit.

FYI - we are Canadian Citizens, employed in Canada and are considering a move to Malta.

Being educated, my wife really wants to continue being employed - but we are wondering if it may be very difficult for her to find jobs given limited opportunities in Malta.

To answer your questions

Ans: No. There is no open work permit in most EU countries. Especially in Malta. Your Work Permit is tied to the employer. But at the same time the dependent is free to find a job and work provided the work permit is provided by the employer.

Ans: Yes. Your work permit is tied to your employer. If you plan to switch jobs then the employer needs to apply for a separate work permit. Also your residence permit reflects which employer you are working for, hence if you change jobs you will have to reapply for residence permit as well.

As for your wife, I would advice that she starts applying to jobs in Malta through job sites specific to Malta and once you are in Malta visit the Job Plus office in Valletta. They will guide you.

And any idea when can I apply for residence card on arriving there. What is the processing time once applied for the recidence card.

Will there be any problem if I get my family on schengen VISA and apply for dependent or recidence permit from Malta itself.

Considering the schengen VISA has some time limitation . Is it possible to start the processing although the Schengen VISA is going to expire.

Can I extend the schengen VISA from Malta.

I would request you to go to Identity Malta directly and get more information. They keep changing the rules often, n I dunno how it is now.

I am from India. I am on single permit whereas my wife is with me on dependent VISA.聽 I am not sure about Indian education recognition in Malta. In case she is required to undergo some course to convert Indian education to Malta's recognized education, she would require to apply for student VISA. In that case can she apply for student visa from Malta itself ?聽 Secondly if she gets any job opportunity here, then can she apply for work permit then employment visa from Malta itself. I mean without going back to India can she apply for required visa from Malta itself. Please help.

Hi,
I am joining a company in Malta by September 2019 and waiting for work visa from the employer. I am interested in bringing my family to Malta after I complete 6 months over there. Can you please tell me where is it mentioned that one should draw net euro 19000/year to be eligible to bring your family to Malta. Also I would like to know if the amount mentioned is same even if my wife comes with my son of 13 years.
I am worried regarding this as I did not find anywhere any such figure.

Hi Deepika,

You were correct about net salary of 19000/year should be drawn as requirement for your family to join.
But I feel the above is incomplete.聽 It includes the family can join only after 2 years. Its not an alternative but together with net salary of euro 19000/-.

I have applied to the University of Malta for my masters course. I would most probably be selected for the course. I intend to bring my wife after 6 months of my stay & study in Malta.
1. Can she apply for dependent visa ?聽聽聽聽 2.Also, would she be able to work full-time?
3. Or would it more wise to get job in Malta right from here in India and apply for a work visa instead of dependent visa?

鈧�866.66 is not a lot for 2 people to live on?

But normally you find a job first then they do the paperwork in order you for you to work.

I don鈥檛 think that amount of wages would get you residence for two people also unless you have savings it鈥檚 not enough to live on.

Hi,

I would like to ask if anyone experienced the same case as mine.
I am Vietnamese and I just got a job offer with net salary > 30K. I am going to bring my family with me (wife and 1 kid). However, I have some concerns regarding the Visa procedure:

1. Proof of Accommodation for Working Visa: I don't want to rent apartment in advance as I want to come and see it live. (Is there any way to book a hotel in advance for the Visa?)
2. Regarding my family: is it easy for them to get the Visa as Family Visit in France embassy in Vietnam? (I am concerning they may want to stop them to go to Malta as they will stay ... for sure)
3. In case they have the Visa to Malta and exchange to the ID card. Do they have to leave Malta and re-apply for another visa?

I will tell you how to do it,since I have done it.

Visit visa through other country embassy is hard to get with maximum chances of rejection.

If you don't have malta high commission in your country ,its better to apply for tourist visa through any country.

Once in malta you can apply for residency for wife and child if you have 19000鈧� nett salary along with 3 salary slip and rent agreement.

It's very easy only if family is in malta otherwise I have met people here who are waiting for their child even after qualifying all conditions because their visa is being refused multiple times.

May I clarify with you some points that I am not very clear?

1.

its better to apply for tourist visa through any country.

-> does it mean finding a Shenzhen country which has Embassy in Vietnam (such as France, Italy) and travels to that country. After that, go to Malta to exchange the ID card?
2. If I follow your guidance, how many days should I apply for the tourist Visa to Italy or France. Should it be at least 20 days? What did you do for your case?

Italy once took 14 days in total .

@harpal,now a days high commission of malta in delhi reject all cases for wife and children ,which was rare until January.

It is better to apply for tourist visa through France for your family and then apply here for there residency which is easy and possible.

Please note this theory will not work if you don't have all of these together ur own residency card, 3 salary slip and 19000鈧� per year salary.

I have one more question I can appl tourist visa in Malta for my wife? She can get tourist visa for Malta or not?
And if I don't have child i have only wife for spouse in this case also 19000euro per year is mandatory or it will be less than that amount?
