Golf Carts, Tuk Tuk, or Electric Tricylcles

Anyone know about the use of these be accepted in residential areas? In cities along the coastline, are any of the vehicles permissible to use for day to day use. Any restrictions? We are hoping tuk tuk or golf carts would be in use on back roads.

Hi,

I've seen TuKTuks on the road here but unsure if they are modified from the Asian/Africian versions. Golf carts are NO as they'll not pass any road going regulations, Petrol tricycles (CanAm) are here so an electric version of a road going tricycle would be accepted as are the road going (petrol of electric) Quad bikes. There are road going mini agricultural vehicles (as聽 below) of various types and Aixam (and other) micro cars which can be had as electric.

Hi,

There a Portuguese class of road vehicles which is generally called voiture sans permis (in French), basicially they are small lightweight聽 road going vehicles聽 which have a special category but they still have to be registered and meet the regulations to be used on the road in that catagory. Aixam and Ligier make some petrol/diesel/electric and they are roadgoing registered in Portugal, one dealer is near Fatima train station so maybe easiest to find a dealer and contact/talk to them to find what rules the tiny cars need to meet.聽
