Two different jobs here. The cremation side is a funeral director, not legal, and most Costa Blanca firms are used to international families, so ask locally for that.

The Power of Attorney and the will are the legal half, I recommend a bilingual lawyer who usually drafts both and books the notary.

Belgian here, based in Madrid, so I can't recommend anyone in Alicante I'm afraid. But I've gone quite deep into the Spanish wills and POA side of things over the past year, so a few general pointers in case they help.

The funeral arrangements and the legal side are two separate tracks. Funeral homes handle the practical part quickly, while the will and the power of attorney go through a notary. In expat areas like Alicante, many notaries work with English-speaking staff or alongside a bilingual lawyer — worth asking when you call around.

One thing worth knowing: a Spanish will made now, while your relative is still well, makes everything far simpler later, and it gets registered centrally so it can't be lost. Rules vary by region, so confirm the details with a local notary.
