As climate change events become the norm, flooding amongst many other events becomes a concern for us all.聽 Particularly when storms dump over an inch an hour, there is nothing to do.聽 Therefore, you should minimize likelihood of experiencing flooding by settling away from rivers and the coast on higher ground.聽 I am aware that Eskisehir (my eventual destination) experienced flooding sometime last year.聽

It's hard to prognosticate whether it will happen so it's best just to accept that one will experience it eventually.聽 For me, earthquakes are of greater concern which is another positive factor for my chosen destination.聽 聽I'm not informed enough about Antalya to make any suggestions but I found two websites which may be of help:

Thanks Gino,that's exactly what I'm thinking - with climate change, the frequency of natural disasters is only going to increase, so it makes sense to do a little research and minimise the risks, to whatever extent that's possible. Buying a property in an area that has suffered serious flooding every year for the past few years just doesn't seem very smart!

I'd discovered the thinkhazard.org website you kindly linked when doing my research and found it somewhat helpful for the coastal flooding zones, although was much more detailed, as you can see which specific areas will be affected at differing sea levels.

With respect to earthquakes, suggests that the following areas are at higher risk: Demre, Finike, Kemer, Manavgat, Serik, Alanya.

From what I can tell, serious coastal flooding and earthquakes have, thankfully, been rare.

However, some of the of the flooding in Antalya as a result of heavy rainfall (including last month) was truly shocking! At first I thought it was just a one-off freak event, but then realised that this seems to be happening every year.

I was hoping to find a map or single list of the districts that were affected, but haven't had much luck. From what I could gather from various articles, it seems to be Southwestern Antalya, specifically Ka艧, Kemer, Kumluca and Finike.

The other risk that I hadn't thought about is extreme heat/wildfires, especially after the wildfires in Kemer last July, and Manavgat in 2021, although I'm assuming these would have primarily affected forests and agricultural land.
