Help with applying for a visa

Hi there
I was wondering if there was anyone out there who has been successful in getting their Permanent Visa for Canada and if so how did you do it. Would you be able to reccommend a consultant or an agency that can act on our behalf? I am aware of the CIC website were you can go in and fill out the forms etc but im not too confident. I dont want to make any mistakes that could delay the process. Am considering Global visas...

Thank you.
I did see a few negatives about global visas but was told by one of their agents that it was all made up by their competitors to put people off.聽 I will attempt to fill out the forms myself and assume that that I will be contacted by the cio/cic for any gaps.

A few negatives???? Did you Google Global Visas? There are hundreds and hundreds of different complaints on numerous different sites. Do you think that this is just a few and do you really believe that they could have ALL been created by a competitor? A person who works for them and is interested in making a commission off of any astronomically inflated fee that they will charge you certainly is not the person to take advice from..... trust me.

I read a few.

I have to say though (in global visas defence)they have been great in helping me out and giving me free advice.
I spoke to someone today and as my husband doesnt have post secondary education (HND, HNC, diploma, degree), Ive now been advised that instead of applying for Permanent Resisdency for a skilled worker, we should apply for a Temporary work Permit as my husband wouldnt have enough points for the other. GV have offered us a package they call IEPS International employment preperation solution where we pay a fee for them to write us a letter find work and then if successful they sort us out with work permits.聽 CIC offer this too (IECI), with a conditional acceptance letter that expires in 6 months. I feel like were back at square one and like im going round and round in circles, as the plan was to find work then apply for a visa. is that the best solution or will the letter of conditional acceptance help. does anyone have any advice first hand experience or ideas.

I think I can answer this, just got off the CIC website and the work permit temp permit can be applied for after finding a job.
But any feedback would be greatfully appreciated.

(BTW, I will not be using Global Visas)

I'd suggest trying to find him a job offer using or some other employment site. Right now the Province of Alberta, especially cities Edmonton and Calgary offer the best chances of success in doing so.

If you've got some kind of concrete job offer then that will carry a lot of weight with CIC and may mean the difference between rejection or acceptance of your application.

From everything I've heard and been able to check out myself, Alberta has more job vacancies available than people to fill them. This is not just for skilled professions, but right across the board including non-skilled labor.

Thanks for your input Farbod, but once again I must stress that Citizenship and Immigration Canada warns that immigration consultants or immigration lawyers ARE NOT NECESSARY and that many are actually frauds.

Certainly there are legitimate consultants and lawyers out there, but not even the ICCRC registration is an indication of legitimacy. ICCRC DOES NOT GUARANTEE THERE REGISTRATION IS ANY RECOMMENDATION OF THE SERVICES OF THE INDIVIDUAL PRACTITIONER.

This is one case where it is really "Buyer Beware".

Yikes. Unless you are staying in a private villa at the Constance Prince Maurice Resort (Mauritius), $12,000 is an exorbitant amount for a hotel stay and tourist visa.

Where is this "agent" located?

If you personally met this agent at their real-life business office---ideally the same city as you---then your chances of recovery are surprisingly good.

If you made all your arrangements, including payment, with this "agent" purely over the Internet, then your chances of recovery are practically ZERO.

Danger! The "agent" is communicating with you in hopes of defrauding you of additional money.

Example 1:聽 "Agent" will offer to fulfill their original promises if ONLY you send them an extra $3,000. Of course, you will never see that money again.

Example 2:聽 Accomplice of the "agent" will contact you claiming to be "ABC Recovery Services" asking you to sent them $2,000 so they can recover your original $12,000 payment. Of course, you will never see that money again either.
