Comparison between cities

We are planning to relocate to the Baja this fall (covid allowing) and are looking at 3 communities/areas and would appreciate any feedback regarding ease of lifestyle (e.g. grocery shopping, expat community, acceptance of expats by locals etc, cost of living). We are considering Punta Banda (south of Ensenada), Heroica Mulege and San Felipe (El Dorado Ranch or Pete's camp specifically). Would also appreciate insights as to whether the summers are tolerable in San Felipe and Mulege.

We鈥檝e just about settled on San Felipe only south of San Felipe at a place called Rancho Costa Verde, mostly because we want to build our own home right on the sand. We looked at El Dorado but it鈥檚 just too much like a San Fernando Valley, K&B or Pardee Homes planned community with neighbors on all sides and all the houses basically Valley cookie cutter. Also, being on the Sea of Cortez side, it鈥檚 less expensive than anything the Pacific Ocean side over by Ensenada. Like everywhere, the summers can get hot no matter where you go but it鈥檚 only a few, short months; the rest are great. No matter where you go, staying up in Norte Baja you鈥檙e going to get more for your money than down south. It鈥檚 still relatively open and unspoiled in the San Felipe area although with the plans already in the works to expand the airport and a huge development coming, it鈥檒l be just like Cabo and Cancun, Mazatlan and the others as it gets built out in the coming years so you鈥檙e getting in at the right time.
