How to select an apartment for rent in San Miguel

Color me jealous. I only wish I could move in October. It will be October 2019 for me. Interestingly though, I am going to SMA this October for another visit. And yes, I do get to PDX occasionally and coffee sounds great. Stay in touch.

It聽 is聽 better聽 going聽 direct聽 with聽 apartment聽 owners聽 who聽 do聽 not聽 charge聽 exorbitant fees.聽 Local San Miguel聽 de Allende natives聽 will聽 only聽 require聽 rent聽 and聽 security聽 deposit聽 equal to the rent.聽 For example聽 if the rent is $400聽 US聽 you聽 聽will聽 pay聽 a deposit of $400聽 for聽 a total聽 of $800.聽 Many local native owners聽 will also provide the聽 utilities聽 as part of the rent provided you do not abuse聽 over use of the utilities.聽 Realtors have hidden charges and fees so the choice is yours. Barrio Tecolote is a community of many expats and locals.聽 If you're seeking to live in an upscale pricey area,聽 聽this is not for you. If you're seeking low rent and low expenses, then this is it. It is not聽 So Ho in Manhattan or聽 Cobble Hill in Brooklyn.聽 But聽 it is聽 a great community聽 where the locals embrace聽 expats聽 with warmth.聽 It is聽 a聽 15 minute walk to the聽 Jardine聽 area and it has great聽 mom and pop tienditas, panaderias, mercados and other essential home goods shops.聽 Hope this helps. Good luck.
