best bet is to look on Carmax that would give you a pretty good idea of coost. this being the Texas there is never any tax put on the sales price (it is bloody annoying they do it on everything here) so you need to factor in that. The Carmax site has an option to get the full cost, included tax license and title.

Insurance is expensive when you first get here, if you can get a No claims letter from the UK it may help but you most likely looking at 400 聳 600 USD per 6 months but I have been told this reduces each time you renew.

also you do not need a license to buy a car, bought both mine on my UK license but you will need proof of insurance before they will let you take the car

When I looked at it about 6 months ago you end up paying in dollars what it would cost in pounds for similar cars, but in Houston all the mileage is high as everything is so spread out and it is almost compulsory to drive, as long as your usage is not excessive when you come to sell it should be OK.
