I screenshot the textbox and sent it with my fraud report.

Shopee were fast. The original payment was refunded and the shop kicked off of their site that day.

This happened to me at least once, maybe twice; even the shipper's name is familiar.聽 My first go-to is always "Minhas Importa莽玫es" on the Correios website ()聽 It's a free account, and gives you the Receita Federal status of every shipment linked to your CPF, not just the ones handled by Correios.聽 If duties are owning, it will say very clearly how much and provide a DARF to download and pay:聽 as you wrote, there should never be a need to pay a third party, especially one that "volunteers".聽

That鈥檚 indeed a very useful tip, thanks. I might add that big vendors like Shoppee and MercadoLivre (especially MercadoLivre, I think I have only used Shoppee once) are very transparent in their pricing. Any additional fees like delivery fees or taxes are clearly shown , sometimes only once you put it in your basket and proceed to checkout, but at this point you will see exactly how much it鈥檚 costing you , and once you placed your order and paid it, there will be no more fees or taxes to pay. In my experience, their 鈥渨eak point鈥� is the delivery system , every now and then a delivery driver will try something to get a little extra. I once had a driver call me and ask for 20 Reais extra if I wanted my order the same day, otherwise I would 鈥減robably鈥� have to wait until tomorrow. MercadoLivre confirmed that unfortunately stuff like this does happen and that there鈥檚 not much they can do, other than advise customers to never pay more, except if it鈥檚 MercadoLivre themselves asking, and only through their website. That鈥檚 when I started using their ponto de entrega, and I鈥檝e been very satisfied with this system. As an example, I recently received an envelope that was very obviously empty. The employee at the ponto de entrega noticed it even before me, advised me to refuse reception, which I did, and she did the necessary step right then and there, I had to do nothing at all. In fact, even before I left the store I received a notification that my pix account had been credited with the amount of the order, and that was it. I鈥檓 sure i could have resolved it just as satisfactorily if I had received the empty package at home, but I would probably have had to ask for a return code or return label, go to a post office and send it back myself.

As I mentioned in my previous post, a support worker from Mercadolivre confirmed to me that this is unfortunately very common, and the way their system is structured doesn鈥檛 allow them to intervene directly against this problem. They recommend to never pay anyone anything, for whatever reason, except what you are billed on their website. Any type of communication should be done in their system, for accountability reasons.
