@phyllisvail49聽 聽I don't know of any online or legal information information, but I do have friends in Cotopaxi Province who have been raising pitbulls for a long time and again theirs are non-aggressive and I don't think they've been visited by anybody to say they cannot have them. They don't regularly walk them out on the streets but they do sell their puppies. Also even in Quito where I'm now living you will see at least Pitbull crosses being walked on leashes publicly.聽 You should investigate particularly any regulations regarding importing dogs but I suspect that the detailed management of breeds in Ecuador is not an issue at the moment.

According to several sources you can find on the internet, Pitbulls and Rottweilers are two breeds prohibited from being brought into Ecuador.聽 This site below lists only Pitbulls and Rottweilers as being prohibited from importation, as of February 2023:

I recommend you contact Agrocalidad, the ministry in Ecuador responsible for overseeing importation of animals, to have them give you the official government position:
