Coming from Paris, I came to Portugal to decide to settle there and forget the grayness and French navel-gazing. No luck, I live in the Algarve which is invaded by French and other northern Europeans. But I aspire to stay in a more authentic Portuguese region like Alentejo or further to the northeast. I am therefore a summer and economic exile in the same way as the populations of the Fourth World in search of the El Dorado in Europe!
