Getting a feel for the place and deciding if I want to stick around
Good food, variety of neighborhoods, cheap prices (for an expat), and pretty nice people. It is also mostly flat.
Expats surges (snowbirds etc) make rental pricing and finding trying.

Hills, hills, hills, not enough streets. I got bored fast as there was really only one road to everywhere. . . and everything else was straight up.
