Former marketing executive in the Pharmaceutical Industry, I worked as an expatriate for 23 years in Africa, with successive residences in Dakar and Abidjan. Later, I bought a real estate agency to satisfy my taste for beautiful old buildings and occupy my retired leisure time. I have since stopped all activity, except that of municipal councilor of my village. So, no problem for a new life, apart from the language, which I do not master, but a Portuguese paternal grandmother must have passed on some genes to me, and this should allow me to quickly acquire the basics of how to communicate. The real questions concern health. I am 74 years old, an active stent for 11 years, cancer successfully treated in 2011 and for 3 years, AMD in the right eye which requires + or 6 annual injections of a very expensive product, around €800. How would this type of care be supported? I report to the RSI, due to my last activity, and we have a fairly good complement. Is there continuity to benefit from this coverage? For a few months, we will be content to rent a pied-à-terre to give us time to judge the relevance of a permanent installation and to prospect for the acquisition of a house. Naturally, the fact that non-residents' pensions are no longer subject to social security contributions, after the levies made by Valls, plus those announced by Macron, and finally that they are not taxed in Portugal, is not foreign to our choice!!!
