I did both. I also got a signed letter from my accountant showing my assets. Seemed to do the trick. Make sure you have a Portuguese bank account and NIF. Can be got online. Read More

Just to say, what sort of lump sum is it? If it's a large amount why not invest in a buy to let property which would give you a passive income and an asset you can sell later if you want to. Read More

I think with a 100k in your bank you would be fine for a D7. I would put it in a Portuguese bank which can be opened remotely (for example Atlantico). You can also get a NIF online (just google it). Read More
