Your problem is that to rent for 5 years, to get the locals pricing, you will need the resident visa status basically. Otherwise, the landlord can't rent to you for more than 6 months and you are back into the tourist pricing. Read More

There are several animal shelters that can use volunteers in the area. The one I visit is in the area of Sesimbra, Bianca. They have a website. Great way to meet people as well as help out with animals. John Read More
