About

Global Village Volunteer - Homestay - Mekong About us I. About Global Village Homestay ?Stay ? Help ? Be local? Founded by people who share same passion and enthusiasm to work for community activities, Global Village Homestay takes responsibility as a bridge of trust between volunteers, sponsors and disadvantaged communities in remote areas, including ethnic minority. I.Our vision is 1. Better the local?s people life quality by the most genuine community project. 2.Provide the knowledge and technology for the community to sustain by themselves. 3.Educate young people about community responsibility and develop the social mind in them. II. Our communities With the aim to bring the genuine and long term support for communities in need in Vietnam, every year WE chose a commute to support, along with previous commute that we have been supported before. Hoping to bring a positive change to them. Our main communities are: 1. Education: Teaching english 2. Help communities: Building house for poor people. Fundraising for young kid to go to school,... 3. Sport activities: play foodball, voleyball,... 4. Culture exchange: Culture camp with local student, Vietnamese Cooking class, Become a Fammer,... 5. Our pride Overseas Community Involvement Projects-Overseas Service Learning Project It is a program from Singapore? schools and Universities, in which, a group of elected and trained students are send to developing countries to do community projects. This is why OCIP is called Overseas Community Involvement Projects. From 2016, we making new project in Ben Tre province, Viet Nam and call is "Global Village Homestay". Global Village Homestay is proud to be the host for these projects in Vietnam since we were first established in 2009. Together with our partners from Singapore, we have made more than 60 successful OSLs in poor regions and ethnic minority communities around Vietnam to make a better life and education in these areas. 2) Service Learning Service-Learning (SL) is a method under which students or participants apply and develop what they have learnt in school through active participation in thoughtfully organized service that is conducted to meet certain needs of a community. In other words, in Service Learning, participants not only learn the practical applications of their studies, they also actively contribute to their community. Global Village Homestay is the first Homestay Volunteer that introduced this method in Ho Chi Minh City then pick up the volunteers to Ben Tre province. We believe that every community service has to be accompanied by learning about the community?s needs and implementing our talents to further enhancement of future services. Many young people in the world served the community for wrong motivations, such as a good resume or simply looking for interesting activities. Global Village Homestay aims to change their mind-sets by imparting an understanding of the benefits of Service Learning Projects for their personal development and the community as well. With the never-ending supports from counterparts in Singapore, Global Village Homestay has managed to slowly, but surely; bring the concept of Service Learning to other NGOs, clubs, and some universities in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and also in around the world!
