California, France

Grew up in Southern California, have lived here my whole life.
Long time student, though recently graduated (yay!). Now I work as a bookseller, and will soon be an au pair abroad.
Southern California really does have the best weather. I may complain about it, but that's because I've never lived anywhere else. Winter=weather in the 60's, and summer=weather in the high 70's/low 80's. It is absolutely beautiful, and the beaches are wonderful. I feel very blessed to live in an area like this.
While it is beautiful and interesting, there's not a very deep history behind this place. I still love it, but I also love how in places with a long history of civilization, you can almost feel the past in the air. That doesn't happen here.

I'm gaining work experience so I can find a job in Paris and move back within the next few years.
Sales Operations Coordinator for Quebec with Quiksilver.
The weather in California is hard to beat, always pretty nice year round. The beaches near where I live are great (oh yeah, and I live close to the beach). California produce is wonderful. Things are open 24/7
It can be very superficial. So much energy is spent focusing on how people look, exercise (nothing wrong with that, but when it's an obsession that's not good either), and eating "healthy." Also, there isn't much history or culture.

Paris, France

I was an au pair in Paris. Paris is my heart home, and I am at my happiest when I live in Europe.
Au Pair
The city is simply magical, and not necessarily in the cliche ways. It has so much history and culture, and quite simply, I love it. It's not perfect, but it's perfect for me.
I had to use the RER, and I hate it. Still want to move back to Paris, but I hate the RER. Also, it can be difficult to find places to buy groceries at night and on Sundays.

I've actually been to Lille and Lyon, and I think they are both wonderful. Both have a large student population and are major cities in France. If you want a city that feels more like Belgium, where there are beautiful Flemish-inspired ... Read More
