Hello everyone,
I was wondering if there a lot of expats on the silver coast. I have seen guides on here for Porto, and the Algarve but don't see one for this location. Does anyone know if it exists?

I'm looking for the same type of info like concentration in cities, demographics, cost of living, etc. Just like the other guides.

Yes, there鈥檚 a growing community of English-speaking expats there. If you search for the YouTube channel 鈥楶ortugal the simpler life鈥�, you can watch lots of interviews with Americans who鈥檝e chosen to live on the Silver Coast. There are many interviews, so you鈥檒l need a bit of patience to watch them all. Most of them live around Foz do Arelho, S茫o Martinho do Porto, 脫bidos, Alcoba莽a,聽 Bombarral, Caldas da Rainha, Lourinh茫,聽 ...聽 and the surrounding area. There, they talk about the process of buying a house and their new life as expats.

Depending on your definition your "Silver Coast" may stretch from almost Porto to almost Lisbon, just look on something like Google Mops, that's maybe 150 of your miles so not really one location - then check on the satellite view you'll see long stretches of not much and maybe no direct beach access then a small resort town or two (there's some exceptions)聽 the Atlantic coast can have waves that are too big for normal swimming so, mainly, the coves, inlets where there's calmer water and little resort towns are where people go to the beach so are absolutely mobbed during holiday season but other places high tide reaches the cliff so the beach disappears.聽 Several years ago I went the length of the silver coast stopping at most beaches mainly looking for beach fishing places and videoing them. The real towns where people live/work etc.聽 are reasonably small are more inland.

Don鈥檛 generalize the聽 Praia do norte beach at Nazar茅 and the geological features in front of that beach (which cause those huge waves) to the whole of the Silver Coast...

And on top of this "generalization" can get you blocked on the forum. If you show a video with rough sea, you also have to show one with calm sea. 馃檪

You take this wrong, have a look at the bit at the start of vid of a long stretch of empty beach with sea waves unsuitable for swimming nothing to do with the surfing bit.

That " long stretch of empty beach with sea waves unsuitable for swimming " is Praia do Norte, Nazar茅, where there are big waves.

The waves there aren鈥檛 always 30 metres high, and even when they鈥檙e smaller, they aren鈥檛 always good for surfing. At that northern beach, it鈥檚 almost impossible to go for a swim because of the famous Nazar茅 鈥榗annon鈥�. This fault in the sea floor begins at the rock where the castle stands and extends a few hundred metres out in front of the northern beach.

I was recently told off, because what I wrote was considered a "Generalization", which is not acceptable on expat.com. I bet JohnnyPT knows more about this rule. I assume that positive generalization is allowed, but as soon as it could be interpreted as negative it isn't.
