i am living in Erbil. it is expensive city.the whole iraq is expensive.1$ =1180 IQD
house rent for villa聽 2000 to 4000$
hotel rent per day minimum 60$ without every thing.
food is also expensive u can take one time meal at least in 10$
security point of view it is safe as compare to other cities of Iraq.Baghdad,karbala najag,kirkuk mosul are not safe.
it is very fast growing city.every company is starting his聽 business in Erbil .so it is very attractive for business man.

The problems are:-1. Shopping Mall are the only place to go.
2. Food is another problem - Texas Chicken, Barista cafe, American lounge and one chinese resturent. If you dream to buy food its allmost impossible. Vegetable is very rare.
3. All the items are expensive here.
4. To get a house is much more difficult then anything floor plan of house are really bad.. A two storied bunglow will have only two toilets and one shower.
5. Transportation is another big deal. Now a days there are some company who rent cars.

Advantage are:
1. You can save money, as you can't expend without food & house.
2. Its a secured place compared to other region in Iraq.
3. Compare to other middle eastern people here are social.

These are the major experience I've gained in last one year

Welcome to Erbil, for renting the house, it depend on house big or small and floors, for example a normal house is starting in 300$ to 1500$ as i said it depends on house and neighborhood, regarding safety, Erbil is very safety, regarding food, food is normal and cheap too. I have posted a reply regarding some of the things to see & do on another post but as far as food being hard to find and expensive? I have just recently arrived into Erbil so maybe it is the season but there are plenty of street markets and vendors in trucks offering a fair variety of veg and fruit at very decent prices, bought enough veg for 2/3 meals for about 2,000 dinars(about $1.60). It's true that some restaurants are priced at $10 and above for entrees however you can also get a delicious chicken shwarma for .80 cents so I guess it's where you are looking and what you decide to eat.
